FREQUENCIES OF PREDICTED MIA ANTIGEN AMONG SOUTHERN THAI BLOOD DONORS

چکیده

Background: The Mia antigen (MNS7) of the MNS blood group system is clinically important in Asian populations. Anti-Mia has been implicated hemolytic transfusion reactions and disease fetus newborn Thai However, data this frequency among southern Thais remains unknown.
Objective: This study aimed to determine predict frequencies donors estimate risk alloimmunization Thais.
Methods: A cross-sectional was conducted. Altogether, 400 500 central samples were genotyped for GYP(B-A-B) GYP(A-B-A) hybrids using polymerase chain reaction with sequence-specific primer (PCR-SSP).
Results: Among them, 19 (4.45%), 28 (9.33%) positive set GP. Hut, GP.HF, GP.Mur, GP.Hop, GP.Bun. No GP.Vw phenotype found Thais. predicted Mi(a+)frequency significantly lower than northern (p<0.05). Its similar Vietnamese, Taiwanese, Southern Han Chinese populations (p>0.05) but differed from Indonesian, Filipino, (Guangzhou) both groups (p<0.05).
Conclusion: constitutes first report Mi(a+) Thais, supporting estimation providing safety

Frequency of Mia antigen: A pilot study among blood donors

The Miltenberger (Mi) classes represent a group of phenotypes for red cells that carry low frequency antigens associated with the MNSs blood group system. This pilot study was aimed at determining the Mia antigen positivity in the blood donor population in a tertiary care hospital in New Delhi, India. The study was performed between June to August 2014 on eligible blood donors willing to partic...

Hcv Infection among Thai Blood Donors

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is an important blood-borne infection in many countries, including Thailand. For epidemiological surveillance and controlling the infection, 2,167 blood donors were screened for antibody to HCV by an enzyme immunoassay method and interviewed by using a structured questionnaire which consisted of personal health history and some risk behaviors. The prevalence an...

Thalassemia and Hemoglobin E in Southern Thai Blood Donors

Thalassemia and hemoglobin E (Hb E) are common in Thailand. Individuals with thalassemia trait usually have a normal hemoglobin concentration or mild anemia. Therefore, thalassemic individuals who have minimum acceptable Hb level may be accepted as blood donors. This study was aimed at determining the frequency of α-thalassemia 1 trait, β-thalassemia trait, and Hb E-related syndromes in Souther...

Duffy Blood Group Genotyping in Thai Blood Donors

BACKGROUND Duffy (FY) blood group genotyping is important in transfusion medicine because Duffy alloantibodies are associated with delayed hemolytic transfusion reactions and hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn. In this study, FY allele frequencies in Thai blood donors were determined by in-house PCR with sequence-specific primers (PCR-SSP), and the probability of obtaining compatible bl...

High prevalence of HGV coinfection with HBV or HCV among northeastern Thai blood donors.

Hepatitis G viral (HGV) infection among northeastern Thai blood donors was determined by the nested RT-PCR technique. HGV RNA was amplified by the degenerated helicase primers for a product of the expected size of 83 base pairs were used in this study. Serum samples from 322 of three different categories of northeastern Thai blood donors were included in this study. There were 104 HBsAg and Ant...
